OHM December 2022

Available December 1st OHM Worldwide.

An altruistic act of generosity for the overworked old elf in red who labors tirelessly up and down chimneys filling countless stockings with goodies? Or is it a blatant bribe in the hope of currying favor with the giver of gifts and thus earn more and better presents?

Leaving treats for Santa could be traced back centuries. Viking children would leave hay and apples for the god Odin and his eight-legged horse Sleipner at Yule time. In Germany, Christmas trees were decorated with fruit and cookies, which might tempt a hungry Santa to snack.

Even today, British children leave sherry and mince pies for Saint Nick. Irish kids leave a pint of Guinness. French children leave a glass of wine for Pere Noel, and Scandinavian kids leave out rice pudding and hot coffee (which Santa might need after all that beer and wine).

But in the USA, the chocolate chip cookie still reigns supreme as the gift most often set out for the jolly bearded one.

OHM celebrates this wonderful holiday tradition with a silver MIKE & COOKIES bead. A giant buttery cookie bursting with melty, gooey chips of chocolate dangles from a heart-shaped pair of candy canes.

And next to it, an ice-cold glass of creamy milk -- that will never spill -- hangs ready to wash down the savory, sugary treat.

Your heart will pound with the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning eager to see what Santa brought in exchange for your dessert inducement.

The magic lives on in this sweet tradition!

One's inner self is only partially exposed to the sun's light. It may feel as if we are showing ourselves fully, but that is not true. So much remains hidden, and usually by choice, our choice!

When we prejudge the value of self before ever opening up to another soul, we deprive ourselves of seeing ourselves as whole.

Think of your private self. That self you become when you are alone, safe, comfortable, free of responsibilities or expectations. What are you like? Who are you? The WHY of existence is evident when you are here in the NOW.

You are a fool with a magician's power. You hold the keys to life's unlimited possibilities. Let your inner self open to others, and you... you listen to your inner self.

The original concept, INNER SELF 1.0, was the May 2019 Bead of the Month, a limited edition release. With only 555 created, you wanted more! So here it is INNER SELF 2.0, with a bit more of your inner self showing!

This is a blind bag item with multiple variations of the embedded glass. Designs vary from available stock photos, with each new production batch seeing new available glass. Due to the nature of blind boxes/blind bags, there are no returns, refunds, or exchanges on any opened items. No exceptions. All sales are final.

Sealed blind bag item. Glass inclusion design varies. Design is updated from the original Inner Self design, and allows more of the glass to be visible.

OHM Winter Wraps Mini-Collection

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, or so goes the famous Christmas carol; but why holly? We have to tip-toe back through the centuries to get our answer.

The holly tree is one of Celtic mythology's most sacred and cherished trees. The Druids believed that the Oak King of summer and the Holly King of winter fought each other for supremacy every solstice. When the Oak won this battle, summer would blossom. When the holly was victorious, the dark months of winter covered the world.

Yet, even in winter, when other plants wilted and died, the holly remained evergreen and robust with bright red berries.

Powerful magic and the symbol of fertility and eternal life, Celtic chieftains wore wreaths of holly for good luck and protection. Hoops of holly hung over doorways of homes to protect against evil spirits, lightning strikes, or misfortune.

OHM has created this magnificent HOLLY HOOP with finely intertwined branches and classic holly leaves and berries that dangle, shimmer, and catch the light, giving a rustle of movement and a sparkle of magic to your bracelet.

As a symbol of love and eternal life or as a charm of protection and good luck, this sprig of holly is the perfect gift for any time of year!

HOLLY HOOP (USD $50)

Why do we kiss under a sprig of mistletoe? How did such a custom start?

Mistletoe has no roots in the soil, and it remains green in the winter when the leaves of the tree it has made its home have withered, so the ancient Celts regarded mistletoe as a magic blessing from the sun god. The mistletoe shrub was carefully harvested with a golden sickle and never allowed to touch the ground. The sprigs hung over doorways for good luck and protection from evil.

Mistletoe was also called "Allheal" and used for healing and improved fertility.
The mistletoe plant is actually a parasite that attaches itself to the branches of a host tree and draws water and nutrients from its host like a bushy little green vampire. The small white berries are also poisonous to humans, though many birds eat the seeds as a food source. So far, this plant doesn't inspire romance or kisses!

The fertility aspect was probably its earliest romantic association. Couples would kiss under the mistletoe at Greek and Roman weddings for good luck and fertility. Enemies would lay down their swords and make peace under the mistletoe. Maidens would put mistletoe under their pillow to dream of their true love and future husband.

OHM has created this graceful and elegant MISTLETOE WREAT in the sinuous style of 1890 Art Nouveau. Several berries dangle with scintillating movement, and your bracelet comes alive with eye-catching dazzle.

You can wear it as a symbol of peace and love, a good luck charm, or perhaps a magical emblem of eternal life and a token of healing and protection. Or you might slyly use it to beckon a sweet holiday kiss!

'Tis the season of love!

MISTELTOE WREATH (USD $50)

Long ago, the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples celebrated the twelve days of Yule in midwinter in honor of the long-bearded Norse god Odin. Animals were sacrificed and roasted for a feast, gifts given, poetry recited, and many toasts made with mead and ale.

Plants and trees that remained evergreen throughout winter regarded as sacred and magical hung in wreaths of pine, fir, spruce, mistletoe, and holly over entrances and openings to keep away evil and illness and to bring good fortune in the coming year.

OHM is happy to celebrate the holiday wreath and the ancient magic of the evergreen with this beautifully detailed WINTER BOUGH spacer bead. A lovely pine cone, still attached.

Cones also have an ancient tradition in rituals of purification. Plus, the seeds make delicious pine nuts!

This lovely spacer-dangle bead will bring a delicate touch of winter beauty to your bracelet long after the holiday decorations are packed away. It may also bring good luck and good health inspired by evergreen boughs of eons past.
